Does Jobber automatically follow up on quotes?

By the Escloser team · Published · Updated

Yes, on Connect and up. Jobber sends up to two email or text reminders on quotes still awaiting response, on the same channel as the original quote. Core does not include it. Those reminders never miss. They do not pick up the phone.

This is the click path for a 2-to-10 truck shop on Jobber whose change-outs sit in awaiting response.

What “automatically” actually means

Jobber has three tools shops mix up.

Tool Who it talks to When it runs Follow up?
Quote follow-up The customer, email or text Connect and up. Twice, awaiting response The reminder. Leave it on
Quote reminder The office, on the schedule All plans. Red block for the quote’s creator Yes, that is your call list
Job follow-up The customer, by email After a job is completed Reviews. Wrong list

Jobber’s automations help (updated 2026-08-06) is the customer reminder. Quote reminders (updated 2026-02-20) sit on the schedule and remind you to call. Work settings (updated 2026-08-11) says those reminders do not contact the client and do not appear in the app.

Jobber’s Academy (updated 2026-05-28) puts the first follow-up email one to two days after send, then a week later, then before the quote expires. That is the email clock. The phone clock is the same business hour the quote went out.

Quote statuses that belong on the list

A Jobber quote stays open until it is approved, converted, or archived.

Status What it means Follow up?
Draft Built, never sent Send it, then call
Awaiting response Sent, waiting on approval Yes, today
Changes requested They asked for a rewrite Yes. Amend, resend, call
Approved They signed in client hub, or you marked it Yes, until you convert it to a job
Converted Copied to a job No. Book the install
Archived You closed it, or auto-archive did No. Keep the reason

Quote Basics (updated 2026-07-27) lists those six. Approved is not booked. Convert it, then schedule.

Turn on the two reminders Jobber already has

Leave the nudge on.

  1. Click the Gear, then Settings, then Automations. If Automations is missing, use Emails and Text Messages.
  2. Under quotes, open a Quote follow-up card.
  3. Set the delay in days after send, up to 90. Write the message. Save.
  4. Repeat for the second card.

A text quote gets a text follow-up. An email quote gets an email follow-up, at the same local time of day as the original send. Recipients get them if outstanding quote follow-ups is on in that client’s communication settings (updated 2026-08-26). CC’d recipients do not.

Jobber’s pricing page (read 2026-10-23) puts Connect, one user, at $99 a month billed annually or $139 month-to-month. That is the first plan with quote follow-ups. Core, one user, is $29 billed annually or $49 month-to-month. Extra users are $29 a month.

On Grow, custom automation builder (updated 2025-08-01) can add more follow-ups. A new custom rule does not fire for quotes already in awaiting response. Last month’s pile is still a phone list. Auto-archive drops quotes that stay awaiting response after the days you set. It does not log why they said no. Call first.

Open the awaiting-response list

Work the office list, not last week’s memory.

  1. From the sidebar, open Quotes.
  2. Filter Status to Awaiting response. Sort by total, highest first.
  3. Open a row. Read the notes, the line items, and whether anyone viewed it.

The first time a client opens the quote in client hub, admin users get a push (updated 2026-10-22). Call the viewed ones first. Sent quotes also show an Opened date on the client communications report. Gear, Work Settings, turn quote reminders on. They land in red, assigned to whoever created the quote.

A cadence that gets used

One CSR job post for this work asks for a callback within 30 minutes, then days 2, 4, 6 and 7. Five phone attempts in two weeks is enough. Leave Jobber’s two reminders on.

When What you do What you are trying to learn
Same business hour (day 0) Call. Confirm the quote arrived Did they get it
Day 2 Call. Text if you cannot reach them Spouse, financing
Day 4 Call. Offer the next two open install slots Timing, price, second bid
Day 7 Call. Ask what is stopping them A real objection
Day 14 Last call. Convert or archive A reason, then stop

If they already gave you a date, park it and call then. If nobody answers, leave a short voicemail with your name, the shop, the address, and a callback number. Paste day 2 and day 7 into Jobber’s two cards. Estimate follow-up email and text templates has wording. How to follow up on HVAC estimates that haven’t closed has the scripts.

Jobber’s Academy FAQ on that page says a follow-up email is less invasive than a phone call. True of a receipt check. The spouse, the second bid, and the financing stall still need a person. There is no reliable public number for close rate. Score it from your Quotes list.

Work one awaiting-response quote

Click the row. Read the estimator’s notes, then dial. After the call, pick one ending:

  • They buy. More, then Convert to Job. Quote approvals (updated 2026-08-11) is that path. Book from the new job.
  • They need time. Put the real reason in the notes. Stay awaiting response. Call on the date they gave you.
  • They want a different option. Edit this quote and Resend. Changes requested quotes leave client hub until you send them back.
  • They are done. More, then Archived. Write the reason. Archive does not require one.

Do not leave Approved sitting with no job. That is a sold quote nobody booked.

What Jobber already sends

Jobber wins the reminder, the portal, and the viewed ping. They do not pick up the phone.

Job Jobber email or text A person on the phone
Sends every time Yes, twice, on your delay Only if someone owns the list
Picks up the phone No Yes
Answers what the visit included No Yes, from the notes
Books the install If they approve in client hub Yes, then Convert to Job
Logs why they said no Not captured Only if you write it
Cost Inside Connect and up Time, a CSR, or a hire

Keep the two follow-ups on. Add the call. Text reminders vs phone calls is that split.

When to stop

  • They said no, hired someone else, or asked you not to call. Archive it that day.
  • They replied STOP, or they put you on their do-not-call list on the call. Honor it immediately.
  • The FCC (updated 2026-02-27) prohibits telemarketing calls to the home before 8 a.m. and after 9 p.m. local time, and says telemarketers must comply immediately with a do-not-call request. This is not legal advice. Check with your own counsel.

Five attempts in two weeks, then a logged no, ends it.

Four ways shops actually keep awaiting response moving

1. Run the Quotes list as designed

Every morning. Awaiting response, highest dollar first. Call, then convert or archive before you leave the row. Right answer when someone is at the desk. It breaks the first full week.

2. The tech calls from the truck

Same-hour check-in from the person who wrote the quote. Best first call. It stops the afternoon they have three more jobs.

3. Hire someone whose job is the list

Job posts from 2025 list a sales VA for estimate follow-up at about $700 a month. You still hire, train them, and check that they log the reason.

4. Put the open quotes on a daily call list

Leave Jobber in place. Pull awaiting-response quotes and put each one on a call cadence so the office, or a caller working as the shop, dials. We make Escloser, which does this, so weigh that suggestion accordingly. Ask who is on the phone.

How to tell this week

Follow-up is working when yesterday’s awaiting-response rows have a same-day call, viewed quotes got called first, Approved rows are already jobs, and Friday’s open value is smaller than Monday’s. If the list only grows, the emails are sending and nobody is calling.

Open last month’s quotes in Jobber. Lay the awaiting-response rows next to the phone. Start there. They already exist.

Frequently asked questions

Does Jobber Core include automatic quote follow-ups?

No. Jobber's automations help, updated 2026-08-06, puts quote follow-ups on Connect and up. Core, one user, is $29 a month billed annually or $49 month-to-month as of 2026-10-23. Quote reminders on the schedule still appear on Core. Those remind the office to call.

What is the difference between a Jobber quote reminder and a quote follow-up?

A quote reminder sits on your schedule in red and is assigned to whoever created the quote. Jobber's work settings help, updated 2026-08-11, says it does not contact the client and does not appear in the app. A quote follow-up emails or texts the customer on quotes still awaiting response, on Connect and up.

Will a new Jobber custom automation follow up on quotes I already sent?

No. Jobber's custom automation builder help, updated 2025-08-01, says a new custom rule does not apply retroactively to past quotes. Last month's awaiting-response pile is still a phone list. Work it from Quotes, highest dollar first.

Does Jobber call the customer about an open quote?

No. Quote follow-ups are email or text. Quote reminders tell the office to call. The Jobber app puts a phone icon on the quote so you can dial. Admin users get a push the first time the client views the quote in client hub. Someone still has to pick up the phone.
